The Soap Museum
Welcome to our 'cyberattic' where we collect some of the best novelty soaps ever made. The history of bath products is preserved in the images of these innovative soaps that have been offered to the public over the last century. All of the items pictured are no longer in production and unfortunatley not for sale. However, we do have most of these items in our private collection. We do include some of the individual history of these products. If you would like to suggest an item for inclusion in the museum, please contact us.
Also, if you have historic knowledge or fond memories of any of the items displayed in the Soap Museum, please write to us! We are always anxious to learn as much as possible about these treasured bits of history.
About Soap-On-A-Rope.com
Our business is family owned and operated. "Soap on a rope" has been offered to the public for well over a hundred years but many department stores and drug chains stopped selling the product in the 1990's when Procter & Gamble discontinued the popular Old Spice Soap-On-A-Rope. Many people with physical limitations such as back problems, arthritis, amputees and muscular diseases rely on roped soap as a necessity in the shower and bath. That's why we started this business! Our primary mission is to offer a wide variety of quality bath products of different styles and fragrances to our ever growing customer base.
We opened online in May 2000 with 25 roped soaps for sale. Today we offer hundreds of bath products for sale and our customer base is worldwide! Most of our soaps are handmade by our own staff and several individual soapcrafters from around the world.
There are two distinct types of soap on a rope; novelty and functional. We offer both at Soap-On-A-Rope.com. The novelty soaps are usually shaped to look like characters or objects like sports balls and they are quite popular during certain holidays. The functional roped soaps have more classic shapes but are offered in a wide variety of fragrances for both men and women.
